The good news: my Sundance application is all but complete, except for references, and I'm working on that. Also, I got a lot of cleaning and filing done while searching through my piles of crap for my Palm, so I could use its address book to finish the references section. And after all that cleaning (and a tasty lunch of leftover gado gado, hanging out on the front porch with the cat, who is super-cute as always) I managed to find the Palm.

The bad news: My Palm is utterly dead. Again. I recharged it and it's back to the ol' blank slate it started as. Crappy. Time to go searching for old employers' addresses in my email archives, I guess.

Update, 16:25: Holy monkey gods, my paper address book is out of date.

I skip one day of LJ, and I get all out of control, I tell you! Although I did write a nice long paper journal entry yesterday, which was fun (and some of it has spilled out here, of course).

Palm death and tech support suckiness, in much more detail than any of you care to read about but I might need it for future reference )

I should probably check my email to see if I've heard from Palm yet. Sigh.

Ack!

I'll spare you the self-flagellatory details, but what you need to know is this: I killed my Palm. The good news is I'd backed up most of my memos and hadn't been using the Palm much lately since getting Spiffy (more on that later), but I'm still feeling kind of brain-fried, like the time I lost my notebook in Rome (wah). Anyway, if you want me to have your contact information, birthday, etc., send me email or fill out the following poll (results viewable only by me for your privacy and convenience):

Ack! Help me recover lost data! )

Besides my address book, the only really critical thing I lost was a bunch of lists, including more or less everything I'd read this year so far (big page counts, woo!) and my big lists of books and movies to read and see, and my lists of good gifts for people, so I made another little poll about that last (this one's publically viewable, for everyone's amusement and edification):

[Poll #149210]

Finally, I'm going to contact Palm to see if there's any way to recover my data, but in the meantime I'm taking suggestions for turning Spiffy the iBook into yet another data storage point, preferably one I can back up to and from my Palm (hopefully another Palm V, when I'm feeling rich enough). What kind of hardware and software do I need (besides the adaptor that makes it so I can actually connect the Palm to Spiffy)? In particular, I really liked my big bad listkeeper program for the Palm (I think it was called Handy Shopper 2?) so if anybody can point me in the direction of something along those lines for OS X, that would be great. Ok, thanks in advance, kids!
