I had quick oats instead of the regular kind for breakfast this morning. They were inferior. I was disappointed. Now, don't get me wrong --- they weren't as foul as instant oatmeal, but then again, what is? (I think that's a rhetorical question, rather than a call for all y'all reading this to list off things that are disgusting.)

I know this "craving for uncooked oats" of which you speak. It always makes me feel like I'm a horse or something, though. We inherited these quick oats from a friend who was out of town for the summer, but now that I've (re)confirmed their unsuitability for making oatmeal ("porridge"! hee! we've disappointed at least one Brit with the revelation that they're the same thing) I'm going to use them up in baking. Oh, darn, an excuse to make oatmeal-raisin cookies? Whatever shall I do?
