...I maybe learned from Pippi Longstocking:

"That is why we are here," said the teacher, "to be good and kind to other people."

Pippi stood on her head on the horse's back and waved her legs in the air. "Heigh-ho," said she, "then why are the other people here?"

Do I really need to say more?

Depends what editions you can find: apparently there's a big mother omnibus collection called The Adventures of Pippi Longstocking, but I grew up with Pippi Longstocking, Pippi Goes on Board, and Pippi in the South Seas, and the editions of those I got from the library today claim there's one more book, Pippi on the Run, which I've never seen but am attempting to track down via the Inter-Net. Also there are numerous newer editions which break the "big" books I know from my childhood into shorter stories like Pippi Goes to the Circus and whatnot.

And then Pippi gave everyone gold coins and candy, I bet.

Man, I loved Pippi Longstocking as a kid. Pippi in the South Seas was a book I desperately wanted to live.
