Travel Plans (Attention Bay Area People!)

Peter and I have resolved to take the train down to your fine neck of the woods for alpinebutterfly's 4th annual housewarming extravaganza of June 21 this year. We have until April 30 to book train tickets if we want to use a special companion-fares deal, so I have two days to make travel plans (and, for that matter, why the companion fares deal doesn't seem to add up when I try to price tickets on Amtrak's web site). Since Peter's term doesn't end until June 17, we probably won't leave Eugene until June 20, which means we'll get into the Bay Area on the day of the party. When we leave kind of depends on how long we're welcome, but it would be cool if we could stay for at least a week (provided we can find someone to take care of the cat for that long), which should be relatively easy to coordinate, especially since we've got this much time in advance to plan (and there are so many wonderful, hospitable people in the Bay Area... hint, hint!)

So. Now is your chance to spend some time with me and Peter, provided you influence our travel plans so we'll have time to spend with you. I'm tentatively setting our departure date for June 27 (again, provided we can find someone to cat-sit) but that's negotiable, starting now.

Excellent. Duly noted. Chances are we won't really have a plan about where we're staying at any given time until we're actually on the trip, but it's good to know there's places available. I'll keep you posted if any actual plans develop.

One of my favorite parts about the party is hanging out in small groups with the people who are around before and after. You guys are welcome to spend part of the week with us (or all of the week, for that matter, but I figure you have other people to visit).

Rock! One of these days I'll have to come before the party so I can help set up, but the timing doesn't work out this year. Guess I'll just have to make another whole big mess of grilled cheese sandwiches or something =)
