McDonald, Ian. Out on Blue Six. New York: Bantam Books, 1989.

From my paper journal:

Weird. Parts were very good, others not so much. I thought I was following it, had a plot twist all picked out and everything (Kilimanjaro West is clearly the guy who was wiped clean to become the new elector, Jonathan whatsis King of Nebraska's replacement...) but no! Instead much more deus ex machina, only not in a quick-fix way, instead I'm supposed to have known about the machine gods all along and it felt like they didn't set that up well enough or maybe I missed the first mention of those rules? Dunno.

Finished reading it on 17 January 2005, started reading it some time in November 2004 maybe? It was a gift from [livejournal.com profile] ouro (thanks!)

My attempts to keep track of my reading continue unabated, oh yes. Also yesterday I started and finished Cruddy by Lynda Barry, which was AMAZING. Yay for books and reading!

I loved Cruddy. It was totally engrossing. I had never read or seen anything by Lynda Barry before I read it, and now I am a big fan.

I had a really hard time putting Cruddy down, but I'm such a geek that I kept wanting to take notes! Lynda Barry is awesome. I still need to send her the pictures of my Marlys Halloween costume.
