Organic farm tour of goodness!
Jul. 27th, 2003 04:28 pmSo today Groundwork Organics, the farm we get a CSA share at, held an open house, and we got to go and tour the farm and taste its tasty produce (including tomatoes made into a delicious tomato-basil-mozzarella platter, melons, and berries, including chocolate-dipped strawberries and a "summer pudding" of brioche bread and berries and whipped cream). It was awesome. We all agreed that we were very glad to be giving Gabe and Sophie (the farm's owners) our money, and that we're definitely going to the next open house as well. We'll probably ride our bikes there, just to be super-badass. Yay farms that do stuff the right way (farm organically, treat workers well, live on the land they grow stuff on, etc.)! And yay for good food and knowing where that food comes from!
Also, on the way to the open house, we stopped and gave some people a jump-start on their van, for major good karma points. Turns out that in the past week, they'd had the front windshield of the van broken and a purse stolen from inside the van, and their cat was killed by a car. Stuff like that makes me glad I can help people whatever little way I can.
