Today's completely surreal moment

...was brought to me by Allison's cat Lilith.

What's that scratching noise? I wondered, and followed it to the bedroom. No sign of Lilith; Iggy was sleeping peacefully on the bed. But then I heard meowing, and it was definitely Lilith's trademark squeak. Where did I finally find her?

In my underwear drawer.

I'm not sure how she got in there, much less how it managed to get closed on her, but there you have it. I think maybe I'd left the drawer above it open, and she crawled in underneath and couldn't get back out? I had to close the drawer above and open the underwear drawer so she could escape, and yeah. It was pretty surreal.

When my sister's cat was a kitten, she liked to sit in the cupboard where we kept cereal. It was a low cupboard (easy access for small children), and it was often left open (small children are too busy to close things). One time she managed to climb on the boxes and from there get into the drawer above the cupboard, where we kept utensils. That was pretty weird--we never figured out exactly how she did it.

I hope you don't end up with cat fur in uncomfortable places!

Kitty's trial run of her teleportation device was less than perfect. The "getting back" part still has a few bugs to be worked out.
