  1. Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.
  2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.
  3. Include these instructions, and share the love.

I'm finally back to working on the Nepal trip pictures.

I think I sent my last batch of postcards from Nepal one month ago today, and I know I sent one to our home address here in Eugene, but it hasn't arrived yet, which has me a little worried. So here's my request to everyone who asked for a postcard (that links back to the original comments-filtered address collecting post, which was how I started my "to mail" list): could you please reply to this post and let me know if you got mail from my sojourn on the other side of the world? Again, comments will be screened.

Thanks so much!

I got back from my Asian adventures very late last night, and today I have mostly been wandering around the house touching everything as if to convince myself that I'm really back and not just dreaming it. (Also I have been petting the cats.) Not one but three memory cards bearing a ridiculous number of pictures suggests that the trip was not a dream either, but dealing with all of that is pretty intimidating --- there is so much! Which reminds me: I wrote something mushy for all of you at the end of the trekking portion of the trip, and posted it on TracyFood, where it was probably way too easy to overlook what with all the automagical post stuff, so I am calling attention to it now.

Anyway. Here is a picture of me in front of some very large mountains:

Should I just call this one "Neener, Neener?"

and that picture is as good a way as any to get to my Flickr, where I'll be posting lots more from the trip. Also I might have a thing or two to write about it on TracyFood eventually, just maybe (LOL I AM TEH FUNNAY --- ok, not really, but really it's amazing that I've managed to string together even this many semi-coherent sentences).

It is awesome to be home.

If you want a postcard from Nepal, put your address in a comment here some time in the next 24 hours, because after that I'm pretty sure my internet access will be sporadic as all get the heck out. I will of course be screening the comments for your privacy. Once again, trip updates will be on TracyFood, both in pre-programmed "here's where I should be today" and live "holy crap there's internet here and the itinerary's changed to X, Y, and Z" ways. Whee!

Dear Internet Friends,

Peter and I have successfully returned from our awesome vacation and tandem bike tour around the IJsselmeer. Home is every kind of awesome. Now I do not know if I will ever catch up on reading Teh EllJay, let alone freaking Google Reader (it seemed like such a good idea at the time, but oy). But I still love you all and am now much easier to contact, even if I put my cellphone through the wash in Holland and might be sort of hard to reach in that regard until I get a replacement. So email me if you want to get my attention, in particular if anything really important happened in the last three weeks that OMG Tracy Must Know About.

Muchas smoochas,

Today I am thankful I'm not in Hell:

The action at Toys 'R Us in Times Square today )

Here's hoping the sadistic glee of not being in that picture will help me through making travel plans for December and actually carrying out those plans (the scary Homeland Security hands-of-blue drones are bad enough without Xmas Muzak making me want to rip my own eyes out as well).

I'm amazed to be saying this after all the delicious food I ate yesterday, but I'm really hungry. Time for breakfast! Coffee and pie it is.

Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] acapnotic!

Vegan molasses-ginger cookies are done, and chocolate cake (also vegan) is in the oven, scheduled to be done just in time to drive up to Portland, which leaves plenty of time for it to cool. Woohoo!

I just renewed my LiveJournal paid account. [livejournal.com profile] msmithma, this is all your fault! (And [livejournal.com profile] cubetime, you too, I think?) Okay, so Peter helped talk me into it too, mostly by guilting me about which of my userpics I'd have to give in and delete... I just can't do it! Ack! Also, I like wasting everybody's time with polls.

Right. I'm babbling because I don't want to go do laundry for my trip East, but I'm going to go do that now, really I am. Also I will have lunch. And I'm super-responsible in general, having left behind a lesson plan for the three days I'm not going to be meeting with my pre-algebra student as a result of this trip (even though the Learning Center's being really vague about whether they're going to find a substitute for me for those days or what) and gotten a bus ticket for getting to Portland ass-early tomorrow morning. Whee.... I mean, bleaugh. Ok, time to work on clean clothes now, and stop trying to figure out if it's possible to get to the 9 PM Amtrak Cascades if my plane gets into PDX at 8 PM....

Peter and I have resolved to take the train down to your fine neck of the woods for [livejournal.com profile] alpinebutterfly's 4th annual housewarming extravaganza of June 21 this year. We have until April 30 to book train tickets if we want to use a special companion-fares deal, so I have two days to make travel plans (and, for that matter, why the companion fares deal doesn't seem to add up when I try to price tickets on Amtrak's web site). Since Peter's term doesn't end until June 17, we probably won't leave Eugene until June 20, which means we'll get into the Bay Area on the day of the party. When we leave kind of depends on how long we're welcome, but it would be cool if we could stay for at least a week (provided we can find someone to take care of the cat for that long), which should be relatively easy to coordinate, especially since we've got this much time in advance to plan (and there are so many wonderful, hospitable people in the Bay Area... hint, hint!)

So. Now is your chance to spend some time with me and Peter, provided you influence our travel plans so we'll have time to spend with you. I'm tentatively setting our departure date for June 27 (again, provided we can find someone to cat-sit) but that's negotiable, starting now.
